Christmas day is rapidly approaching, and many of us excitedly await a fun-filled day full of sparkly-wrapped gifts from loved ones, festive film marathons snuggled up on the sofa and warm mugs of mulled glühwein. Yet we all know what most of us really look forward to – Christmas dinner of course, the almighty banquet of all banquets that brings the whole family together to unite in the culinary gloriousness of the festive season.
We all love a good ol’ Turkey Christmas dinner in Blighty, and in all honestly, who can really blame us? Our nationwide favourite usually features an enormous centre-piece golden roast turkey, alongside crisp goose-fat roasties, crunchy pigs in blankets, rich nutty stuffing and a mountain of steamed veggies (brussel sprouts optional!). And there’s not forgetting the side saucers of creamy bread sauce, hot hearty gravy and tangy cranberry sauce to soak all those yummy carbs. Dee – licious right?
And we’re certainly not alone in putting on quite the gastronomic spread to celebrate the festivities. Across the globe, many countries also go big with their cooking and meals during the Christmas period, and it’s amazing just how vastly dishes differ from different corners of the globe.
